All of the listed offerings in this passage signify passage of time or a date on the calendar. Each one is obligatory, a fact that sandwiches this section (28:1-2, 29:39)

These ceremonies facilitated devotion: everyday, every week, every month, and annual feasts throughout year to remember specific aspects about the people’s relationship with God.

This devotional exercise should bring to the people’s  mind certain truths:

-Obedience to a command demonstrating that God is the Sovereign

-Giving a portion of plenty in gratitude to the Provider

-Slaughter of life to propitiate the Judge

May we join the ancients in remembering these fundamental truths about God today.

Finally, in light of the ultimate sacrifice of Christ, Paul exhorts us to present our bodies as a living sacrifice, which is our true service to God
